Officers from the New Windsor Police Department responded to the Cumberland Farms Store, located at 401 Blooming Grove Turnpike in the Town of New Windsor on Dec. 29 after an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, officers learned that an unknown white male had entered the store and demanded the clerk hand over money from the cash register, New Windsor Police said.
The store clerk had refused the suspect’s request, at which time the suspect told the clerk he had a gun and lifted his shirt, exposing what was described as the butt or handle of a firearm sticking out of the suspect’s waistband, according to police.
After a brief argument with the store clerk, the suspect left the store, stealing only a Red Bull brand soft drink, police added.
A two-week long investigation was conducted by patrol officers and detectives of the NWPD, which led to the identity of the suspect, Dalton G. McGuiness, who was arrested Friday afternoon.
McGuiness was charged with one count of robbery in the second degree (a Class C felony) and arraigned in front of New Windsor Town Justice Noreen Calderin. He was then sent to Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or $10,000 Bond.
